Summary: The changes in the morphofunctional parameters of erythrocytes of Rana temporaria L. (Linnaeus, 1758) were studied during hibernation (low environmental temperature conditions, in the absence of light and food), as well as weekly temperature drops during different periods of hibernation. Based on the obtained data, a number of morphometric characteristics were calculated to assess the effect of a decrease in the functional activity of frogs on the gas transport function of erythrocytes. As the hibernation period increased, the dynamics of changes in .red blood cell count relative to the initial data was observed: on the 33rd day of exposure, an increase in almost all parameters was observed, except for the cell shape indicator. On the 99th day of hibernation, maximum values of cell shape index and the specific surface area of erythrocytes were noted, with minimum values of the cell surface area, volume of cell and nucleus, and the nuclear-cytoplasmic ratio for the entire exposure. By the end of the exposure, a predominance of broadly elliptical cells was noted in the erythrocyte subpopulation, due to a decrease in the number of rounded cells. When exposed to low temperatures (+4 °C) for 7 days, there is a change in the morphometric parameters of peripheral blood erythrocytes. At the same time, the degree of change in erythrocyte parameters depends on the duration of the hibernation of individuals.
