About journal

The journal aims to publish the articles in the Russian language in ecological field (biogeography, agrology, zoology, hydrobiology, ecological physiology of animals, landscape ecology, ecological biochemistry, ecological chemistry, ecological toxicology, nature conservation, methodology, mathematical methods and computer techniques of ecological data analysis, eco-simulation, eco-GIS). The journal is included in the List of the Higher Attestation Commission for 4 scientific specialties: 03.02.08 - Ecology (by branches), 03.02.04 - Zoology (biological sciences), 03.02.09 - Biogeochemistry (biological sciences), 03.02.10 - Hydrobiology (biological sciences). The main types of articles are analytical reviews, original investigations, research methods, peer reviews, notions, synopsis, information messages and letters to the editor.

We mean ecology as a biological science studying the structure and the functions of over-organism system. In this context the title of the journal  “Principles of the Ecology” covers two large subjects areas. The area “Principles of Ecological System Functioning” covers original investigations of empirical regularities of reproduction, transformation and degradation of natural objects (The structure of a system is a consequence of its functioning). It also includes analytical reviews of a series of subject related papers as well as the papers devoted to the new approved methods of field and experimental investigations of ecological laws. The area “The development of the principles of ecological cogitation” covers the works devoted to the methodology and methods of ecological investigations including statistical analysis (including multidimentional one), dynamic simulation (including imitating one), spatial simulation (GIS), systemic approach, synergetics and other which can be applied to the certain ecological investigations. The journal   rejects publishing the lists of facts.

The scientific report must be presented in a strict (quantitative) form, suitable for the experimental expertise and constructive critic. As for publications in ecological field it means that an author in addition to the confirmation of the reality of the found dependence is obliged to determine that general database, sampling from which was investigated and to which the conclusion is spread. All the assemblage of natural objects (in space and time) which obey the obtained dependence should be particularly indicated. Compactness of a publication would contribute to the theoretical understanding of the received dependencies.

Papers are published within the period of 2 to 7 months after their acceptance. All articles undergo double peer review.

Publications are free of charge. This is an open access journal which means that all content is freely available without charge to the user. It is allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles in this journal without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author.
