Summary: Fluorimetric method was used to determine the content of selenium in various forms of pyrite and pyrrhotite in some iron- pyrite deposits of Karelia. In the studied deposits, the average content of selenium in all the sulfide minerals is 1,23•10-3 % ± 1,1•10-3 % and it is comparable with the data received in other pyrite deposits . In the natural conditions, environmental pollution from sulfide minerals is unlikely and possible only during field development.
