Summary: In this paper we evaluated the biotopic diversity of insects on carcasses using various mathematic methods. To describe the Coleoptera patterns, field studies on different animal carcasses were conducted in Karelia in 2000 and 2012. A total of 85 Coleoptera species belonging to 14 families were observed on the carcasses. There were more species collected in meadows than in woods.
